I'm Cleaning My Brain

Recently, I've been obsessively reading Raymond Carver. I started with his first book of short stories, "Will You Please Be Quiet Please?" and read everything up to "Cathedral." Before that I read "Fight Club". I've been listening to Syd Barrett, early Pink Floyd and the Velvet Underground. I've been having some personal issues going on and I feel like this is a form of therapy. It like in the Talking Heads song, "Artists Only" where David Byrne sings that he is cleaning his brain. I think I'm doing the same thing.

I'm gonna put you down for awhile

I started doing some blogging for work (shameless plug: Five Years From Now) and I remembered that I started a personal blog and only posted a few times. I revisited today and found out that I had two comments on a post. I feel bad that two people commented and all I was doing was starting a blog to see what it is like. I didn’t tell anyone I made it and I had no expectations anyone was reading it. And it’s like the quote from the blues song I can't remember "I'm gonna put you down for awhile." I stopped paying attention to my blog and missed the comments until now. Maybe I can blog in both places since I’ve been pretty good about blogging for work.

thinking about work too much?

What the hell is wrong with me? When I can't sleep instead of reading a book, I start up my laptop and do work. Sometimes I can't sleep because I'm thinking about something I'm working on at my job.

My blog title

Apparently the correct spelling for Tanhauser Gate is Tannhauser Gate even though I found it spelled the way I titled my blog in a few other web sites. Oh well, I was wondering why it wasn't taken yet. tannhauserGate.blogspot.com was taken. So how do you take over the name of another blog? Is it like offering to buy a domain?

I decided to name my first blog after my favorite movie BladeRunner and using a part of one of my favorite quotes from the movie. I can't wait for the remastered definitive final cut that comes out this year on DVD. I have the theatrical version on VHS and the first Director's Cut on DVD.
